Julie's California Blog - Day 16

Julie's California Blog - Day 16, Monday, April 15, 2013

It's a bright sunny day here in Southern California.  I had no day time activities planned for today, which is great, because I'm feeling a little under the weather.   I just hung out with the pups, drinking tea and watching news reports about the Boston Marathon.  What is happening to our world?  It's shocking that there are so many people in this world who have such hatred for mankind?  What message are they sending when they murder an 8 year old boy?

I had dinner tonight with USC's Dean of the School of Cinematic Arts at an incredible placed called The Manhattan Beach Post.  The cuisine could best be described as California medleys of tasty delights.  Example, Pomegranate Cous Cous with Lavender feta, marcona almonds, melon and mint.  Or Shrimp, Chorizo and Beluga Lentil Soup with  yogurt, red onion and cilantro.  Combinations that one doesn't see on every menu in town.  Owned by a Michelin-starred chef, David LeFevre, renowned for his fine-dining experience at Water Grill and Charlie Trotters in LA.  He considers this his "more rustic menu."  Most excellent.

We had a very nice evening.  When USC refers to the "USC Family," they truly mean it.  This lady has taken a personal interest in Jeff and has been following him during this really tough time in his life.  I'm so grateful that Jeff is part of such a world class school.
