Julie's California Blog - Day 13

Julie's California Blog - Day 13, Friday, April 12, 2013

Road Trip! Stevie and I are off for Newport Beach today to visit our friends, Kenny and Sheryl. We've vowed this to be a no "day drinkin" day.

The drive to Newport Beach was fast. No traffic jams in the carpool lane on the 405. We met Sheryl at her beautiful home in Corona del Mar overlooking the Pacific and Newport Beach inlet. It is so peaceful and relaxing at KB and Sheryl's. Squeaker and Scruffy felt right at home. Number one, they had some space to move around. Second KB and Sheryl's house looks kind of similar to mine in Tampa. The first time I visited, I was commenting on the cabinetry and how similar it is to mine. Come to find out, Sheryl's cabinet guy in LA is the same guy who did my cabinets in Tampa. Small world!!

We had a great lunch at a Mexican place called Javier's. Sharon, you may love this place. But by the time you make all the changes to the menu, we may as well just go to Taco Bell. I'll let you decide next week!

We had a little "retail therapy" at Fashion Island for a few hours and then decided to stay in Newport Beach for dinner instead of fighting the traffic during rush hour. So Kenny joined us and we had an early dinner at True Foods Kitchen. I fell in love with True Foods Kitchen last fall when I visited Kenny and Sheryl. The basis for the restaurant is Andrew Weil's anti-inflammatory diet using healthy foods that taste great. They want to make foods that make you feel better, live longer and make your mouth happy in the process. It works.

After dinner, we headed back to Hermosa Beach in record time, 35 minutes. We missed the sunset, but it was so worth it to get to spend time with Kenny and Sheryl. Thanks guys! Can't wait to see you again soon.
