Today, we got a late start because I slept until almost 10:00 a.m. our time. Needed it. The time difference is hard to get used to. London is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time and 8 hours ahead of Pacific time. Quite an adjustment.
We set off to Selfridges after breakfast on the Club Level. I'm liking the club level. Free food is always a plus.
We "drew first blood" while on the way to Selfridges at a sunglass shop where we found sunglasses to replace Jac's broken ones and I found a pair of Okley's with a Ferrari logo on the inside - perfect for our upcoming Run to Monaco drive in the Ferrari across Italy.
Next stop was a cute little shop called Whistle, where I found some silver tennis shoes and Jac found a couple of adorable tops and some slacks. When we finally arrived at Selfridges, we were warmed up and ready.
Ladies, man your purses! Jacqueline has an interesting philosophy on shopping. We found ourselves in the high end designer department of Selfridges. Jac said, "Whenever the hangars are spaced this far apart, I know I can't afford it." Laughed my ass off and then checked the price tags on the rags. She is absolutely correct!! However, we found some places where the hangars weren't spaced so far apart and picked up a few necessities. By now, pushed for time, we rushed our packages back to the hotel in time to leave for The Chiltern's Firehouse to meet a friend of mine whom I've known since high school.
It was great catching up with Jan. Our paths haven't crossed much since we graduated, but each time they have, except for a few new wrinkles on the face, it's as if no time has passed and we pick up where we left off.
After sharing a nice bottle of champagne and talking until our jaws were fatigued, we said goodbye until next time with promises to visit again either in London or somewhere in the USA. Jacqueline and I returned to the Club Level at the Langham and continued the Champagne drinking until the Club Level Closed. All in all ... it was such a wonderful day.
